A Startling Whoop: You're Invited!
A Transcendental Equinoctial Celebration on Frugal Chariot's First Birthday
Dear Reader,
"When the warmer days come, they who dwell near the river hear the ice crack at night with a startling whoop . . ." ~ Henry David Thoreau, Walden
As promised I am writing to invite you to the first of what I hope will be many seasonal happenings sponsored by Frugal Chariot.
On Sunday, March 27th at 4 PM Eastern I will be hosting an interactive celebration of Henry David Thoreau’s writing with a panel of distinguished guests:
Ben Shattuck, author of the new book Six Walks: In the Footsteps of Henry David Thoreau
Megan Marshall, author of Margaret Fuller: A New American Life and contributor to Now Comes Good Sailing: Writers Reflect on Henry David Thoreau
David Foster, Director of the Harvard Forest and author of Thoreau's Country: Journey Through a Transformed Landscape
There will time for Q&A, and also for audience members to share their own favorite bits of writing from Thoreau and other Transcendentalists. Bring your favorite passage and share it in our open mic "Thoreau-Down."
This event is free on Zoom, but attendance is limited, so please register early to reserve your place. The link to register is here. I hope you can join us.
